Rep. Jeremy Shaffer, a Republican representing Allegheny County, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania House Transportation Committee. Shaffer, who holds a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, brings significant experience in transportation safety to his new role.
“I look forward to using my experience to help shape policies that strengthen Pennsylvania’s transportation network, improve safety and ensure our infrastructure meets the needs of our communities for years to come,” Shaffer said.
The House Transportation Committee is responsible for developing legislation related to roads, bridges, and infrastructure throughout Pennsylvania.
“My extensive background uniquely positions me for the role on the House Transportation Committee,” Shaffer said. “I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner to promote smart investments, improve safety and ensure our transportation system supports economic growth and quality of life for all Pennsylvanians.”
Shaffer co-founded a company focused on software that enhances bridge and road safety by improving inspection processes. He has served on several national and international transportation bodies such as the Transportation Research Board’s Committee on Bridge Management, the Federal Highway Administration’s Bridge Preservation Expert Task Group, and was part of the executive committee of the International Bridge Conference. Additionally, he has contributed research at over 40 industry conferences.
Alongside his new committee appointment, Shaffer also serves on other legislative committees including Commerce; Housing and Community Development; and State Government.
