FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.
On September 26, 2024, we at DeKalb Times sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Dekalb County in Illinois. The request sought detailed records of all payments made to vendors within the period of January 1, 2024, till September 26, 2024.
The requested information included specific fields such as the name of the vendor, the date of each transaction, a description of each transaction, and the amount involved in each transaction.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us at DeKalb Times. This enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as media professionals engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. We await a positive response from Dekalb County regarding this request.
