FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments in 2024 on September 26th

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Dekalb County, Illinois, on September 26, 2024. The request was made by DeKalb Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

In the interest of transparency and public accountability, we requested records detailing all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024. Specifically, we asked for information including the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us at DeKalb Times to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as media professionals disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. We eagerly await Dekalb County's response and look forward to sharing this important information with our readership.
