HARRISBURG – Rep. Rob Mercuri (R-Allegheny) announced that two school districts in the 28th Legislative District will receive grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s (PDE) Environmental Grant Program. These grants aim to create cleaner facilities for students and educators by eliminating mold, lead, asbestos, and other environmental hazards.

The Pine Richland School District will receive $372,520, while the Hampton School District will be awarded $3,772. The funding can be used to improve water infrastructure, eliminate contamination, install point-of-use treatment devices designed to reduce lead and other contaminants, and remediate mold.

“Providing a clean environment for our children is paramount to the success they can achieve in the classroom,” Mercuri said. “I am grateful to see this funding awarded to our schools to allow students to focus solely on their studies.”

Since the launch of the Environmental Repairs Grants program, a total of $275 million has been allocated to school infrastructure and environmental repairs across Pennsylvania. This demonstrates a long-term commitment to building safer and healthier school communities.
