To enhance school safety, emergency response, transportation, and infrastructure, Rep. Rob Mercuri (R-Allegheny) has announced over $2.2 million in state funding for the 28th Legislative District. The funds are provided through the Public Schools Facility Improvement Grant and the Local Share Account Grant (LSA).
The Hampton School District is set to receive $700,000 for a roof replacement project at Hampton Middle School. Bradford Woods Borough will use its $466,000 award for a pollution reduction initiative involving rain gardens, a detention basin, and stream restoration.
The Deer Creek Drainage Basin Authority has been allocated $118,888 in CFA grants for manhole lining and rehabilitation projects. Marshall Township will receive $845,233 to improve the Perry Highway (SR 19) intersection with Northgate Drive/Maple Drive.
Additionally, McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority is granted $200,000 for a new ambulance. The North Hills Council of Governments will obtain $401,736 for a special response team rescue vehicle.
“I am thrilled to see these funds come to our district,” said Mercuri. “I am always in favor of projects that support protecting and growing our communities and these funds will go a long way in doing just that.”
These grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency responsible for managing Pennsylvania's economic growth programs and investments. The Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program supports facility improvements in public schools and technical schools while LSA grants are funded by gaming revenues.
