ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY: Announcing the RMU Advantage Scholarship

Announcemennttts

Robert Morris University issued the following announcement.

Robert Morris University is used to beating Duquesne University on the basketball court. Now, RMU is reminding prospective students and their families that they will win financially by choosing the Colonials over the Dukes.

Over four years, the total cost of attendance at RMU, including room and board, is $38,960 less than the total cost of attendance at Duquesne. Now, under the new RMU Advantage Scholarship program, students who are accepted at Duquesne but choose to enroll at Robert Morris and live on campus will receive a $1,000 textbook credit, on top of any other financial aid for which they qualify. You read that right: First-time students who are accepted at both RMU and Duquesne, but who enroll at RMU starting with the Fall 2021 semester, can save approximately $40,000 by the time they graduate. That’s enough to buy a new car, or pay for a down payment on a house, or help pay for a younger sibling to go to college, too – not to mention the great professional outcomes enjoyed by RMU graduates.

“We believe that students should be able to choose the university that is the best fit for them without cost getting in the way,” said Kellie Laurenzi, acting vice president for enrollment management at RMU. “We’ve always been more affordable than many other private universities, but it’s not always clear how big that difference is.”

The RMU Advantage Scholarship is one of several initiatives at Robert Morris to make a college degree more affordable and to make paying for college more transparent and easily understood. These include the Public Price Match Plus scholarship program that makes the cost to attend RMU lower than the main campuses of the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State, Kent State, and West Virginia University; and the College Affordability Academy , which helps families make better choices about financing a college education.
